Countries of Coffee

Countries of Coffee

When, for the first time, I saw the eyes portrayed for each month of the new Calendar on a computer monitor, I was bewitched. We were meeting with Antonio and Ranieri once again, to finalize the layout of the 2009 Calendar, working, for the third year in a row, on a project of which all of us are really fond.

The aim is the promotion of the Caffé Barbera Company through artistic images, showing the entire process of coffee-making, from raw beans to consumers, each time with a free, different interpretation.

When Antonio Barbera mentioned a young artist who used computer technology to express herself, and who was the one entrusted with the realization of the 2009 Calendar, I have to admit that, being used to conventional tools with my traditional background, I was somewhat perplexed. On the other hand, I was also quite curious… but I refrained from saying anything. Now, instead, I say, ‘Well done!’ Well done, for choosing Daniela D’Andrea.

The “Countries of Coffee” series is made up of 12 3D freely inspired portraits, not derived from photographs, showing different environments, all linked with coffee. Six of these are linked with the top producing countries in the world (recognizable in the ethnic features of the women portrayed), while the other six show typical Western environments, pertaining to consumers, rather than producers.
