The Coffee Wizard
It is 1870 and we are in Messina, at the end of the 19th century to be precise. Domenico Barbera starts up a small coffee roasting business.
Every morning, at dawn, Domenico Barbera wakes up to roast coffee with a small coal-burning roasting machine. His skill at roasting the coffee is soon noted by his fellow-citizens who buy coffee in his small shop in Piazza Cairoli.
It doesn’t take long for word to spread: what takes place in the small Barbera coffee roaster’s shop can be considered true magic.
Domenico Barbera made coffee like no one else. He was an artist in roasting. He was The Coffee Wizard.
So, naturally, when the moment came to create a logo for the Barbera company the choice could only have been the little wizard carrying a cup of hot coffee.
